HCMC – The Ministry of Health has asked HCMC and three other provinces to give updates on their Covid-19 vaccination rates.

HCMC, Long An, Dong Nai and Binh Duong must send data on the number of people who had got one and two shots as of September 2 to the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the ministry before September 6, the local media reported.

According to the ministry, as of August 31, HCMC has been allocated 9.11 million doses, while Binh Duong and Long An have received 2.37 million and 1.65 million doses, respectively. These doses ensured all residents aged 18 and above could have got one shot each.

Dong Nai has been provided with nearly 1.8 million doses to give 80% of its adult residents one dose each.

The Ministry of Health required HCMC and the three provinces to accelerate vaccinations but in a safe and effective manner.

They must also report the number of people who received their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and then switched to the Pfizer vaccine for their second shot.

The Ministry of Health also asked the Departments of Health and the relevant agencies to work out plans to administer the second shot to those who have been partially vaccinated.

They must contact the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the HCMC Pasteur Institute to receive Covid-19 vaccines and make daily reports on the vaccination progress and reports after vaccination drives.

Vietnam has administered 20.54 million doses to local residents, including 2.88 million people who were fully vaccinated in a two-dose schedule.

As of September 3, the country has received some 30 million Covid-19 vaccine doses through an order by the Vietnam Vaccine JSC, the COVAX Facility and donations by other countries.
