PNJ REACHES TOP 10 AMONG 100 MOST SUSTAINABLE COMPANIES IN VIETNAM
Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) is the only jewelry company listed in the top 10 among 100 most sustainable companies in Vietnam in 2016. Between January and October, PNJ obtained VND510 billion in profit, 10% higher than this year’s goal.
PNJ received the title at a ceremony in Hanoi City on November 8, held by the Business Council for Sustainable Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the State Securities Commission.
Enterprises were evaluated by the CIPS Sustainability Index (CSI), a set of 151 quantitative criteria established by experts in the fields of economy, society, labor and environment. Experts looked into firms’ reputation, brands, human resources attraction, operation, development potential in the future, social responsibilities and environmental protection.

To obtain the title, PNJ has made strategic steps focusing on sustainable development, developing quality human resources, enhancing the supply chain value, launching creative products, protecting the environment and contributing to society.
The CSI criteria are also key elements in PNJ’s future development strategy, prescribed in its 2015 Sustainable Development Report with three major aspects: Economy - Environment – Society.
PNJ is among the top 10 sustainable Vietnamese businesses in 2016
Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, PNJ’s general director, said PNJ has followed its motto “Sharing benefits with customers and society” for many years.
The title is a motivation for PNJ to pursue its sustainable development model, becoming the leading jewelry retailer and manufacturer in Asia and maintaining its top position in the high- and middle-end segments in Vietnam’s jewelry market.
PNJ has just announced its business results in the January-October period with notable results: total revenue of VND6,725 billion, up 15% year-on-year, retail sales up 27%, and pre-tax profit of VND510 billion, up 33%.
Besides, PNJ’s retail distribution system has also reported strong development with the launch of 20 new stores, taking the total to 226 in 47 provinces and cities nationwide. Therefore, it has It holds the largest jewelry distribution system in Vietnam.
