Johnson Controls named best automotive battery maker for 11th consecutive year Delkor brand awarded for quality excellence

KOREA - Delkor brand from Johnson Controls, the world’s largest automotive battery manufacturer, has earned the top award for quality from the Korean Standards Association (KSA) since 2006.

This is the 11th consecutive year the company’s Delkor batteries have been awarded on the Korean Standard Quality Excellence Index (KS-QEI).

“Through our robust automated inspection system, Johnson Controls has a thorough quality-control process in place to ensure consistency in producing excellent batteries for a range of vehicles,” said Frederick Lim, vice president and general manager of Asia Pacific region at Johnson Controls Power Solutions.

“We are proud to be recognized by KSA, a leading standards and quality organization, for our hard work and dedication.”

Johnson Controls manufactures Delkor batteries in South Korea, supplying maintenance-free products to automakers and retailers throughout the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Korea and the Middle East.

“Delkor has been chosen by consumers and industry experts as the best battery in the market.  We will strive for continuous improvement to consistently exceed customers’ expectations,” added Lim.

With more than a 30-year history in Korea, Johnson Controls Delkor was the first manufacturer in the country to produce maintenance-free batteries, eliminating the need for consumers to add distilled water throughout the life of the battery.

The company was also the first in Korea to improve the ergonomic design of the battery handle by introducing an integrated solution that was flush with the top cover. This allows for easier battery installation in vehicles for aftermarket customers.

Johnson Controls Delkor currently operates two facilities in Gumi, employing more than 400 people.
“This award affirms the standards we employ around quality, performance and sustainability,” said Yunho Kim, Johnson Controls Korea sales director. “We thank our customers and consumers for the continuous support and trust in Delkor batteries.”

“The reliability and quality of Delkor batteries isn’t just known in Korea. We introduced Delkor in Vietnam in 1999 and it has become an important product for the automotive industry,” said Terry Wan, sales director ASEAN region, Johnson Controls Power Solutions.

Currently, Delkor products are distributed by Thanh Cong Batteries Company, which specializes in distributing of batteries in Vietnam.

Hundreds of consumers and industry experts were surveyed for the KS-QEI rankings.
