The Italian consulate general in HCMC on March 2 opened a three-day exhibition of distinctive Italian product designs on the campus of the HCMC University of Architecture at 196 Pasteur Street, District 3.
The exhibition showcases the design speciality and quality of Italy through various products, including autos with brands such as Fiat, Ducati motorcycles, lamps, home appliances, and armchairs which are touted as chairs of legend.
Italian Consul General in HCMC Carlotta Colli told the opening ceremony that the Italian consulate general has organized the special event to provide students and the public with an opportunity to gain insight into Italian designs.
For the first time the Italian consulate general has brought Italian designs to the university campus by organizing the open air design exhibition themed “The Art of Lifestyle” and a rich program of lectures and presentations from Italian brands and architects.
Colli said there is also a corner for students to learn about opportunities to study design and architecture in Italy at the event, which lasts until this Saturday.
Le Van Thuong, president of the university, said the university has run courses on fashion, industrial and interior design for decades, so the exhibition is a good opportunity for students to get a better understanding of Italian design, which has been recognized worldwide.
The show is being organized in cooperation with the HCMC University of Architecture and Italian brands and designers. It is held on the occasion of the Day of Italian Design in the world, which is an initiative promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
