Belgian singer Axelle Red to perform in town

Renowned Belgian singer Axelle Red will take the stage at the Opera House in District 1, HCMC on Monday night.

Axelle Red, born Fabienne Demal in 1968, became known for her first vinyl record “Little girls” when she was a 15-year-old girl. Two years later she released the second vinyl record “Back to Tokyo” with the stage name of Axelle. But she decided to stop her singing career to study at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and earned a degree of law.

After that, Axelle came back to her singing career with the new stage new Axelle Red and signed a contract with Virgin Benelux Records to release the first album titled “Sans plus attendre,” featuring some popular songs like Sensualité, Je t’attends, and Le monde tourne mal. The album was a big hit in France, Switzerland, Canada and Belgium with 600,000 copies.

In 1997, Axelle Red became a UNICEF ambassador to fight for the rights of women and children in war zones and developing countries.

The singer published two more acclaimed albums “Alive” and “Face A/Face B” inspired by her charitable activities and trips to poor countries. 

Axelle Red was back to soul pop genre on February 2013 with the album “Rouge ardent” to mark the 20th anniversary of her singing career. This album won the golden album in her home country. Axelle Red wrote 40 songs which were later narrowed down to 10 to be featured in the album.

In early 2016, she introduced her latest album “The songs Acoustic” with the best 24 songs in her career. These songs were mixed in acoustic style to show the performance and composing talent of Axelle Red. During her concert in Vietnam, Axelle Red will introduce this album to the local audience with the new mixing styles.  

The trip of Axelle Red is organized by the French Institute in Vietnam to mark the Francophone Week in the country. The singer will perform in Hanoi on March 18, Can Tho on March 19 and HCMC on March 20. Tickets to the show in HCMC are priced at VND450,000, VND350,000, VND250,000, VND150,000 and VND100,000 per person.
