The Saigon Times Foundation (STF) under the Saigon Times Group last week joined hands with a study encouraging association of Ben Tre Province to present 40 scholarships of the STF – Pham Phu Thu scholarship program, worth VND5 million each, to poor students with outstanding academic records in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre.
The scholarships were sponsored by Proconco and Masan Nutri - Science.
Pham Phu Ngoc Trai, founder of the STF – Pham Phu Thu scholarship program, said Ben Tre is one of the Mekong Delta provinces that have suffered most from climate change and coastal erosion.
The STF – Pham Phu Thu scholarship program wants to support students in the province to study and become helpful citizens of society in the future, Trai added.
On the occasion, the scholarship program donated 21 computers worth a total of VND150 million to Phan Triem Secondary School in Tuong Da Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province.
Vo Thi Lan, principal of Phan Triem Secondary School, said the school has 280 students and eight classrooms. The school has no functional rooms and essential teaching equipment. “With this new computer room, students can practice and improve their computer skills.”
Established in January 2017, the STF – Pham Phu Thu scholarship program has raised VND2.85 trillion from businesses and individuals. Previously, the program awarded 60 scholarships to students in the central coast province of Quang Nam.
