Binh Thuan attracts VND37 trillion in new investments

HCMC - Binh Thuan Provincial on April 19 approved 16 projects in energy, tourism and hi-tech agriculture with total registered capital of VND37 trillion (US$1.6 billion).
The decisions on approval of investment intent were presented to investors during an investment promotion conference held in Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province on April 19.
Of note is the Ham Tien - Mui Ne tourism service center project in Ham Tien Ward, Phan Thiet, which will be developed on nearly 200 hectares by Hoang Quan Consulting Trading Service Real Estate Corporation.
With registered capital of VND9.8 trillion (US$431 million), the project will include tourism service center, amusement park, residential area and marina.
Thong Thuan Milk Joint Stock Company pledges to invest VND3.9 trillion (US$172 million) in a hi-tech agricultural complex in Song Binh Ward, Bac Binh District to raise cattle and process dairy products.
In the energy sector, among the approved projects are solar power plants Vinh Hao (30MW), Eco Seido Tuy Phong (40MW - phase one), VSP Binh Thuan 2 (30MW), Hong Phong 1 and Hong Phong 2, and wind energy parks Thai Phong (14.5MW), Thai Hoa (30MW), Ham Kiem (15MW) and Hoa Thang (100MW).
Mai Xanh Investment Joint Stock Company will build a factory to produce unbaked construction materials using ashes and cinder from the Vinh Tan power center in Vinh Tan Ward, Tuy Phong District. The facility is expected to use about 4,500 tons of ashes and cinder a day to produce more than one billion unbaked bricks a year.
Also at the conference on April 19, 20 investors signed memorandums of understanding with Binh Thuan authorities over their plans to carry out projects in the south-central province.
Speaking at the conference, Binh Thuan chairman Nguyen Ngoc Hai said eco-tourism, renewable energy and hi-tech agriculture are the province’s development priorities in the coming years.
Binh Thuan Province now has 1,280 domestic and foreign projects worth a combined VND230 trillion (over US$10 billion). Of these, 113 projects involve foreign companies and cost a total of around US$4 billion.
Binh Thuan has 27,000 hectares under dragon fruit farming, titanium ore reserves of 600 million tons (92% of the nation’s total) and a national power center with a designed capacity of 12,000 MW.
Traffic infrastructure in the province is being built or upgraded, including expressways leading to other cities and provinces, Vinh Tan port, and Phan Thiet airport.
With a 192km coastline, Binh Thuan is home to many beautiful beaches, breathtaking sand dunes, and famous cultural and historical relics.
The province annually has about 4.5 million tourists on average.
