Germany agreed to boost cooperation with Vietnam in the priority fields of vocational training, energy and environment during a negotiation round which took place on May 17-18 in German capital Berlin.

Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) pledged aid of 161.45 million euros for Vietnam to implement cooperation programs in the next two years.

Luu Quang Khanh, head of the Foreign Economic Relations Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and Gisela Hammerschmidt, director of the Directorate Asia of the BMZ, highlighted the long-standing and fruitful cooperative relationship between the two countries for the common goals and international commitments to sustainable development.

Germany has given assistance and support to Vietnam through some projects focusing on climate resilience for the Mekong Delta, renewable energy, and sustainable management of forests in central and northern Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnam serves as an important partner in the German development cooperation program.
