Young singer songwriter Joyce Jonathan from France will take the stage at a charity concert slated for next Tuesday night in HCMC.

The “Joyce Jonathan live charity concert” at Ben Thanh Theater in District 1 will be organized by HCMC-based non-profit organization Poussières de Vie and supported by the French consulate general in HCMC. The event is aimed to raise funds for projects on healthcare and education to support street children and those with poor backgrounds.

Vietnam was originally not on Joyce Jonathan’s performance tour to Asian countries, but after meeting with Vietnamese-French businessman Patrick Desir, the founder of Poussières de Vie, she changed her mind and decided to take a tour to the country to perform for free to help the organizer of the event raise funds for Vietnam’s street children.

Local and foreign audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy her sweet and gentle voice through romantic songs on love and life by the French singer who is able to sing in three languages including French, English and Mandarin Chinese.

Patrick Desir told a press conference to announce the upcoming event on May 29 in HCMC that during his first meeting with Jonathan in Paris six months ago, he was touched by the generous heart of the French young singer. In addition, he showed his expectations that the event will inspire local youths on humanitarian values.

The 28-year-old singer has gained much success in her music career and won the hearts of the French youth. Jonathan was brought up in a musical environment at an early age as she started playing piano at the age of five and composed her first song aged 11. Her first album, Sur mes gardes, which she recorded with the French producer Louis Bertignac, was released in 2010 as a big turning point in her career.

Established in Vietnam in 2002, Poussieres de Vie has initiated many projects for street children and the community, especially those on vocational training and healthcare in HCMC and Kon Tum Province, to help bring children better lives.

Besides, there is also a gala dinner at the French Consulate Residence in HCMC’s District 1 where participants will meet and exchange with Jonathan and join an auction for charity purposes at 7 p.m. on June 5.

All the proceeds from the program will be used for education and childcare projects to support needy kids at centers under the management of Poussières de Vie.

Tickets to the concert priced from VND300,000 to VND2 million per person can be purchased at Poussières de Vie, 49/3 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Binh Thanh District, Exo Travel Agency, 41 Thao Dien Street, District 2, the Sofitel Saigon Plaza, 17 Le Duan Boulevard, District 1, and the New World Saigon hotel, 76 Le Lai Street, District 1.
