Famous Vietnamese singer Noo Phuoc Thinh last Friday was officially appointed as Japan’s tourism ambassador by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Saigon Giai Phong newspaper reports.

In his new position, the young singer will join campaigns to promote Japan’s tourism sector through social networks.

Thinh said that he felt happy and proud to take up his new role as Japan’s tourism ambassador and promised to make every effort to fulfill his mission despite his very busy schedule for upcoming music projects.

Takahashi Ayumi, chief representative of JNTO in Vietnam, said Japan is mapping out a plan to promote the country’s tourism image to many countries around the world with an aim to reach the target of luring 40 million tourists to the Northeast Asian country until 2020.

Japan is becoming an attractive tourist destination for Vietnamese tourists, thus the renowned local singer was chosen for the new position in an effort to further tourism ties between the two countries.

Last year marked a successful year for his music career as the 29-year-old Noo Phuoc Thinh has won outstanding awards, especially the title “Singer of the Year” at the Cong Hien (Devotion) Music Awards 2017.
