HCMC – The local stock market advanced strongly in the second straight winning session on June 13 with ROS alone giving more than 0.2% to the increase.

ROS went up to the ceiling price for the second day, closing at VND120,500 a share on matching volume of over 4.8 million shares. The stock along with financial large caps lifted the VN-Index up 5.8 points, or 0.77%, at 756.89.

Among banking stocks, BID increased 2.9% to VND19,450 a share with 4.4 million shares exchanged and BID inched up 0.7% at VND13,900 per share on volume of 5.37 million shares. Meanwhile, SSI was the best gainer in the securities sector, having hit the ceiling price for the sixth consecutive session, standing at VND26,600 per share on volume of 3.3 million shares.

While ROS was the biggest contributor to the main index’s gain, AMD was the major drag as it plunged to the floor price for the fourth straight session at VND17,560 per share on matching volume of nearly 6.49 million shares, ranking second in terms of liquidity on the HCMC market. ROS just spent over VND165 billion acquiring 15.8 million AMD shares, or a 24% stake in the enterprise.

FLC also dropped 0.3% to VND7,280 a share on matching volume of 5.15 million shares. HQC, which was the most heavily traded stock with 6.54 million shares, rose a slight 0.7% to over VND3,000 a share.

The mining sector continued falling given strong selling pressure. Notably, KSA was the only gainer for jumping 5.3% to VND2,380 per share on volume of 4.6 million shares.

Turnover on the southern bourse sharply improved thanks to large put-through transactions. There were over 204 million shares worth VND4.7 trillion changing hands, including bloc deals of 15.8 million STB shares worth nearly VND205 billion, 1.95 million NVL shares worth VND133 billion and 4.1 million BHS shares worth VND83.5 billion.

The Hanoi market bounced back slightly after one losing session, buoyed by banking and securities stocks. The HNX-Index rose 0.49% at 97.31 with trading value reaching VND648 billion.

ACB added 1.9% to VND26,500 a share on matching volume of nearly 2.6 million shares while the volume leader SHB gained 1.4% at VND7,200 with 11.5 million shares exchanged. Securities stock SHS jumped 6.6% to VND13,000 a share with 2.5 million changing hands.

KLF was the second most actively traded stock with 9.9 million shares, rising 3.7% to close at VND2,800 per share. Most petroleum stocks advanced but PVX lost 4.8% to VND2,000 a share on matching volume of over seven million shares.
