FrieslandCampina Vietnam, Vietnam Red Cross Society clinch cooperation agreement

The signing ceremony between the Vietnam Red Cross Society and FrieslandCampina Vietnam takes place in Hanoi on June 14

The Vietnam Red Cross Society and FrieslandCampina Vietnam on June 14 signed a cooperation agreement implementing a three-year project namely “Nutritional education and physical development for Vietnamese children.”

This year, the project will survey the nutrition and health status of 50.000 children from three to 11 years old in 100 schools in Hanoi, Haiphong, Hai Duong, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh; educate about nutrition and healthy physical lifestyle for families, especially for children including providing knowledge and holding physical activities to maximize children’s growth and development through proper and sufficient nutrition.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Hanoi, Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, chairwoman of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, said FrieslandCampina Vietnam sees social responsibility as a top priority in its business development goals. Therefore, the project will bring practical and effective support to kids in line with the Government’s project on the development of the physical strength and stature of the Vietnamese and school milk program for kindergarten and elementary school children.

In addition, the project is aimed at reducing the ratio of malnourished children in Vietnam compared to the region and the world, and minimize obesity and overweight among children by 2030, Thu added.

The partnership is part of the “Drink. Move. Be Strong” campaign initiated by FrieslandCampina based on the fundamental belief that proper nutritional diets, daily physical exercises and healthy lifestyle would contribute tofurther stimulating the maximum potential among children.

Since 2012, FrieslandCampina Vietnam has joined hands with the Red Cross Society in numerous charity activities such as “The cow bank” project and Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) celebrations with poor people andAgent Orange/dioxin victims.

Arnoud van den Berg, managing director of FrieslandCampina Vietnam, addressed in the signing ceremony that the cooperation with the Red Cross Society will make significant contributions to extending knowledge on nutritional diets and physical training to young studentsin order to help improve the mental and physical fitness of the Vietnamese in the future.
