Local film to join BIFAN festival 2017

The movie “Co gai den tu hom qua” (The girl from yesterday) directed by Phan Gia Nhat Linh has been chosen to participate in the 21st Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) scheduled to take place in South Korea from July 13 to 23, the Vietnam News Agency reports.

The film adapted from a novel of the same name by famous Vietnamese writer Nguyen Nhat Anh will be premiered at the “World Fantastic Blue” category for films in various genres ranging from non-fiction, fiction, comedy to romance during the film festival.

The movie, which explores a topic of schools and teenagers with the presence of some renowned actors including Ngo Kien Huy, Miu Le and Hoang Yen Chibi, is expected to hit local theaters nationwide on July 21.

Born on May 7, 1955, Nguyen Nhat Anh is known as an incisive writer of stories for teenagers and adults. He is also a teacher, poet and correspondent. He is regarded as one of the most successful writers for teens. His well-known novels that have recently published include “Cho toi xin mot ve di tuoi tho” (Give me a ticket back to childhood) and “Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh” (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) among others.  

Film director Phan Gia Nhat Linh has become popular to local audiences through his debutant film  “Em la ba noi cua anh” (Sweet 20) which hit local theaters in late 2015.
