HCMC - Quadria Capital, an independent healthcare-focused private equity firm, will support FV Hospital to expand to other provinces in the country and invest in some key specialist departments.

FV Hospital on Tuesday announced Quadria Capital as its strategic partner. At the ceremony, FV Hospital general director Jean-Marcel Guillon said the investment will be used to develop the hospital into an excellent healthcare center.

FV hospital plans to put a general clinic in Can Tho City into operation in December and open eight to ten new clinics in the next five years. At least US$10 million will be used in the next six to 12 months.

Amit Varma, co-founder and managing partner of Quadria Capital, did not reveal the value of its investment in FV Hospital. However, he noted the fund often invests US$40-100 million in a project and holds a stake of 25-26% in a partner firm.

FV will be listed on the stock market in the next five years so that the fund can withdraw its capital after five to seven years of investment.

With more than 950 staff including 130 Vietnamese and foreign doctors, FV provides a wide range of medical services at 30 specialist departments with 220 beds together with a general clinic in District 1, HCMC. The hospital also serves patients from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

This is the third time Quadria Capital has invested in a hospital in Southeast Asia since 2015. It has US$1.6 billion worth of assets under its management and investments in 15 firms in Asia-Pacific.
