The movie “Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Way Station) directed by Vietnamese actress Hong Anh has won the Special Jury Prize at the Eurasia International Film Festival 2017 which wrapped up in Kazakhstan last Friday, the Vietnam News Agency reports.

Earlier, the movie was honored at the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards 2017 (AIFFA Award) in Malaysia with the “Best Film” award and the “Best Leading Actor” prize for Pham Hong Phuoc and “the Best Director of Photography” for Ly Thai Dung.

In addition, the award-winning movie was screened at the Vietnam Night event under the framework of the 70th Cannes Film Festival in France.

The movie was adapted from a novel of the same name written in 1992 by local writer Do Phuoc Tien. It depicts the lives of inhabitants from different parts of the country flocking to a little fishing village and revives their journey of looking for happiness and the true value of life.

Launched for the first time in 1998, the annual Eurasia film festival took place from July 22-28 in Kazakhstan, with many international stars like Nicolas Cage, Adrien Brody and John Malkovich attending. It was named as one of the 35 largest festivals in the world by International Film Guide of the United Kingdom.
