HCMC – Products and solutions related to Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and big data will be prioritized for the HCMC ICT Awards 2017.

Organizers said at a press conference on the awards on August 9 that those entries applying new technologies would have the highest chance of winning the awards.

Le Quoc Cuong, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Information and Communications, said on behalf of the organizing committee that entries should be able to help the city deal with pressing issues including traffic congestion, flooding and environmental pollution.

Many award-winning products and solutions of previous years have contributed to a smart city project in the city. This year the organizers expect to receive many products and solutions with the Fourth Industrial Revolution factored into.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, chairman of the HCMC Semiconductor Industry Association, said Government policy is to support domestic enterprises to develop their own products.

This year, HCMC will focus on a project to develop the city into a smart one in the 2017-2020 period and with a vision to 2025. The project offers a great opportunity for domestic enterprises to introduce IT products and solutions.

The project will build e-government to improve the efficiency of city management, and interactions between government and citizens.
