The opening of Trinh Cong Son pedestrian-only street near the West Lake in the capital city of Hanoi will be rescheduled until October to coincide with the celebration of 63 years of Hanoi's liberation (October 10, 1954-2017).

The street would be officially opened to the public on October 10, instead of August 19 as earlier planned. The launch of the pedestrian street is an effort to meet diverse demands for weekend entertainment of local and international tourists.

When in place, Trinh Cong Son Street, named after one of Vietnam's most beloved musicians who passed away in 2001, spanning from Alley 612 Lac Long Quan to Alley 431 Au Co will be made pedestrian-only from 7.30 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The pedestrian-only street will also comprise a 2,000-square-meter outdoor stage for music shows featuring the late musician’s songs and traditional art performances.

In addition, there will be around 60 booths selling food and souvenir items along the street.

Earlier, the capital city has already opened pedestrian squares around the landmark Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake.
