HCMC - Bangkok Airways from October 29 will operate four direct flights per week from Thailand’s Bangkok to Phu Quoc Island using ATR 72-600 aircraft with a seating capacity of 70 passengers.

The airline said in a press release that these flights will depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok and arrive at Phu Quoc International Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The airline said with a 30-day visa waiver, the island is more attractive to European tourists, especially those from Germany, the UK, France, Switzerland and Russia compared to other destinations in Southeast Asia.

The new route is expected to expand the airline’s flight network throughout Indochina and offer return flights to passengers from Europe, Thailand and Vietnam, mainly entrepreneurs and tourists, said chairman of Bangkok Airways Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth.

According to the Department of Tourism of Kien Giang Province, 2.26 million tourists visited Phu Quoc Island in the first nine months of this year, up 8.8% year-on-year, including 242,000 international arrivals, increasing 15.1% over the same period last year.
