Deputy PM orders inspections at two bank branches

The Saigon Times Daily

HCMC - Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh has required the State Bank of Vietnam to inspect two banking branches over their law compliance in giving credits to four enterprises, Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reports.

The probe will cover Khanh Hoa Branch of Vietnam Maritime Commercial Stock Bank (Maritime Bank) and Nha Trang Branch of Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Eximbank), the newspaper reports, citing a document issued by the Government Office on Monday.

The four companies involved in the inspection are Quoc Han Co Ltd, Long Thuy Co Ltd, Khai Hoan Trading and Service Co Ltd, and Thien Kim Trading and Service Co Ltd.

Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh assigned the Governor of the central bank to direct the Banking Inspection and Supervision Agency to verify signatures on credit contracts, collateral contracts and relevant documents in case of falsification, and report the inspection results to the PM prior to December 1.

Previously, the State Bank of Vietnam had received a petition of Truong Thi Dao, director of Quoc Han Co Ltd, accusing Nguyen Thi Thu Khanh, former director of Eximbank’s Nha Trang Branch, of violations in loan arrangement between Quoc Han Company and the two bank branches.

The Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam has asked the Banking Inspection and Supervision Agency to quickly make the final conclusion about the accusation of Truong Thi Dao, and inform her and the Department of Civil Judgment Enforcement of Nha Trang City.
