PM urges preparations for appointments of two new Cabinet members

The Saigon Times Daily

HCMC – The Prime Minister has asked the Minister of Home Affairs to prepare documents for appointments of two new members in the Cabinet, namely the Minister of Transport and the Government chief inspector, for submission to the 14th National Assembly at its next session.

The shuffle is due to take place soon due to recent changes in high-ranking personnel, as the Minister of Transport and chief of the Government Inspectorate have been relieved from their duties to assume other posts.

Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia has replaced Nguyen Xuan Anh who was earlier dismissed from the post of Party secretary of Danang City and removed from the Party Central Committee over his serious violations.

The reason for relieving Government chief inspector Phan Van Sau from his duty is unknown but might relate to a leadership shuffle at the Ministry of Transport.

The Government has not released information about the candidates for the posts.

The Prime Minister also assigned the Minister of Home Affairs to work with other ministries to prepare reports on wrongdoing related to appointments of State officials and asset declarations among civil servants, and the handling of Party members disciplined for their violations.

According to Dan Tri news website, other ministers have also been assigned certain tasks to prepare for the National Assembly’s upcoming meeting that will begin on October 23.

The Minister of Education and Training was assigned to work with related ministries to prepare a report on postponing the introduction of new textbooks and high school curriculum as stated in the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 88/2014/QH13 dated November 28, 2014.

The Minister of Planning and Investment and related ministries will work together to prepare a report on implementation of the medium-term public investment plan for the 2016-2020 period, public investment management in 2017 and public investment plan in 2018.

The Minister of Finance will work with the Minister of Planning and Investment, the HCMC People’s Committee and related ministries to prepare a resolution on special mechanisms and policies for the development of HCMC.
