The former Hue Imperial Citadel in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue will be temporarily closed to the public at night due to heavy rain since the middle of this month, according to a source from the Hue Monuments Conservation Center.

An official day for resuming the night sightseeing tour at the citadel with highly-unique historical, cultural and architectural values in 2018 has yet to be decided.

Earlier, the Hue Imperial Citadel was opened to the public for viewing at night from late April with an aim to lure local and international travelers to the long-standing citadel to explore the royal architecture that has been preserved over centuries despite the ups and downs of history, local media reports.

Earlier, the former Hue Imperial Citadel in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has been named as one of seven leading tourist destinations of Vietnam in 2017, the Vietnam News Agency reports.
