Dekalb Vietnam, a unit of Monsanto in Vietnam, on Tuesday signed a sponsorship deal totaling VND1.3 billion (US$60,000) with the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health (IPMPH) under Hanoi Medical University (HMU) to grant scholarships to outstanding students of the university in the field of agriculture and nutrition in three years.

The Monsanto - IPMPH-HMU scholarship program is aimed to encourage young people to conduct further study and research to raise public awareness of culinary hygiene, nutritional balancing, and food security-related issues.

Aruna Rachakonda, CEO of Dekalb Vietnam, said in a statement that the scholarship program intends to motivate young students to gain outstanding achievements in the field of nutrition and contribute to the improvement of food and nutrition safety.

As part of the scholarship signing ceremony, both sides participated in the “Food and nutrition security and safety” conference to speak out their minds on related issues over food security in Vietnam and around the world and discuss the challenges in training human resources for the nutrition industry in the country.

Addressing the conference, Le Thi Huong, director of IPMPH-HMU, noted that the partnership between the university and Dekalb Vietnam on training human resources for the field of nutrition is a feasible solution to create a favorable condition for young students to acquire a good learning environment and delve into in-depth research.
