The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has vaulted to No. 35 in the latest World 100 Greatest Golf Courses ranking of the planet’s widely-read golf publication Golf Digest.

The ranking of the acclaimed golf course in Vietnam in the Golf Digest list is 39 spots higher than in 2016.

“The latest Golf Digest ranking is confirmation that we have done a good job so far,” said Michael Kelly, executive chairman of Asian Coast Development Ltd. (ACDL), which owns the entire Ho Tram Strip which comprises of the Grand hotel and casino.

Golf Digest’s World 100 Greatest Golf Courses is produced with input from certified course raters from all around the world and the 2018 ranking excludes U.S. courses for the first time. Northern Ireland’s Royal County Down wins the top spot in the poll, followed by Scotland’s Royal Dornoch and Australia’s Royal Melbourne.

The Bluffs was designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman and launched in October 2014. A year later, it scooped the World’s Best New Golf Course title at the World Golf Awards and served as site of the Ho Tram Open, which was a US$1.5 million Asian Tour event.

The 18-hole Bluffs is now undergoing a multi-faceted enhancement project aimed to further elevate its profile. The maintenance crew is working with U.S.-based turf specialist On Course Agronomic Consulting to improve the performance of the playing surfaces, especially the greens.

The project is planned for completion before December this year, when the Asian Tour is scheduled to return to The Bluffs for the Ho Tram Players Championship.

“Our goal from the outset was to build a natural-looking, links-style golf course worthy of the global spotlight,” Kelly said. “It goes hand-in-hand with what we’re doing here, which is making the Strip a world-class tourism destination and Vietnam’s entertainment capital.”

The Bluffs is adjacent to The Grand Ho Tram Strip, the first of a group of integrated resorts and residential developments located on over 164 hectares of land along 2.2 kilometers of beach. Opened in July 2013, the resort consists of a 541-room five-star hotel, entertainment facilities, 13 food and beverage venues and a miniature golf course. A second hotel - The Beach Club - is under construction and will add 559 rooms to the resort and more leisure amenities including a waterpark and amphitheater.
