The HCMC Traffic Safety Management Board and the municipal Department of Education and Training on January 16 teamed up with medical experts to launch a helmet wearing campaign for students and teachers at Tan Thanh Dong Primary School in the city.

At the launching ceremony of the helmet wearing campaign, doctors from Cho Ray Hospital highlighted the importance of wearing standard helmets when in traffic circulation for more than 1,000 students and teachers of the primary school.

Mirjam Sidik, general director of AIP Foundation, said in a statement that advice from medical experts is a key factor helping to raise public awareness of building a culture of traffic safety.

In addition, Vietnam has implemeted a project called “Standard helmets for the family” to change behaviors of students, parents and the public and improve road traffic safety.

During the 2017-2018 academic year, the project is expected to donate more than 4,000 qualified helmets to schools in the outlying districts of Cu chi and Hoc Mon.

The campaign is sponsored by Abbott, a leading global healthcare company, the Ministry of Education and Training, the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP).
