The STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program, a social initiative of the Saigon Times Foundation under the Saigon Times Group, late last week awarded a total of 70 scholarships to poor students with exemplary academic performance in the central provinces of Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam.

The program donated 20 scholarships worth VND5 million each to students of Hue College of Economics at Hue University in Thua Thien-Hue Province while the remaining 50 scholarships valued at VND3 million each went to students at Pham Phu Thu High School in Quang Nam Province.

The VND250-million scholarships were sponsored by Thai Binh Investment Trading Corporation (Thai Binh Corp.) and Novaland Group.

On the occasion, Novaland Group presented VND2 billion to the STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program to present 500 scholarships to underprivileged students with outstanding academic performance this year.

The program last year raised VND3.05 billion from corporate and individual benefactors and handed over VND2.26 billion worth of scholarships to 502 students in provinces and cities including Thai Nguyen, Ha Nam, Ha Tinh, Quang Ngai and Quang Nam.

Set up in 2017, the STF-Pham Phu Thu scholarship program has a mission of providing financial support for students with poor family backgrounds to continue their schooling.

The program is calling for contributions from businesses and other generous donors to help poor students.
