The Saigon Times Daily

HCMC – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in New Zealand on March 12, beginning his official visit from March 11 to 14, the Vietnam News Agency reports.

At his meeting with Mayor Phil Goff of Auckland City, he proposed the municipal authority to expand its cooperation with Vietnam, especially in economy and trade.

He also proposed strengthening ties in education, science and technology, manpower training, urban planning, infrastructure development, hi-tech agriculture and green energy.

He also paid a visit to Auckland University of Technology (AUT) where he talked with Vietnamese students and representatives of the Vietnamese community.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will chair a welcoming ceremony for PM Phuc today.

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and New Zealand rose from US$300 million in 2009 to US$750 million in 2013 and US$900 million last year.
