HCMC – The Binh Duong government has presented investment certificates to 18 projects of domestic and foreign enterprises with total registered capital of US$185 million.

Fifteen of the projects involve foreign investors and cost a combined US$143.7 million. Seven of them that are operational revised up their capital by US$68.8 million.

In addition, the provincial government granted investment certificates to three new projects invested by local enterprises with a total of VND955 billion, or US$41.5 million.

Most of these projects are active in the manufacturing sector, including a project to develop a garment factory of Apparel Far Eastern Co Ltd in VSIP II-A Industrial Park with capital of US$25 million.

Another project is a plant to produce foam-based products of Serim Foam Vina Co Ltd in VSIP II-A Industrial Park with registered capital of US$20 million. Nam Kim Corea JSC also registered to raise its investment in a project to produce steel sheets by US$17 million to US$24 million.

Binh Duong authorities said they would continue supporting enterprises by promptly removing obstacles and trying to meet their demands.

Since early this year, Binh Duong has attracted US$435 million from international investors, with nearly US$234 million in 31 new projects, US$141.5 million in 13 operational projects and some US$60 million from 18 foreign investors.

Binh Duong follows HCMC in terms of fresh investment approvals and accounts for 12.98% of the country’s total investment.

Processing and manufacturing sectors attracted the most investment, US$274 million, making up 63.2% of the total registered capital, followed by trade and real estate sectors.

At the ceremony to award the investment certificates, the Binh Duong government inked a memorandum of understanding to organize events of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) and a contract to lease land for the expansion of a project in Bau Bang Industrial Park of Far Eastern Group and Investment and Industrial Development Corporation.
