The U.S. Consulate General in HCMC will host the EducationUSA Spring Fair from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on March 16 at the Rex Hotel in District 1, HCMC.

Representatives from 65 U.S. universities and colleges will be at the fair to provide information and answer questions regarding education in the United States.

The EducationUSA fair is designed to benefit students, parents and others interested in sounding out study opportunities in the U.S. by providing fair-goers a chance to meet with official representatives of regionally accredited U.S. colleges and universities. Participants can obtain tips and guidance on student visa procedures from an officer of the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC, and get informed about EducationUSA free consulting services at the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC.

The number of Vietnamese students in the United States last year surged for the 16th consecutive year, the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam said, citing the annual Open Doors report released by the U.S.-based Institute of International Education.

The report for the 2016-2017 academic year shows that Vietnam took the sixth position among countries with the largest numbers of students furthering their studies stateside, at up to 22,400 students, a 5% pickup from the previous year.

The U.S. Embassy in Vietnam stressed that education remains a cornerstone of the U.S.-Vietnam bilateral relationship, and the U.S. is committed to creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to study in the U.S. through EducationUSA and its American Center in HCMC.
