The Vietnam-France Fine Arts Association “La Seine et Le Mekong” opened the second international fine arts exchange exhibition at the HCMC Museum of Fine Arts last week, displaying 90 works of Vietnamese and French painters and sculptors, the Vietnam News Agency reports.

The artworks, including oil, lacquer and silk paintings, wooden statues and pottery items, feature a wide range of topics, from people to landscapes and inanimate objects.

Nguyen Kim Chi, president of the Vietnam-France Fine Arts Association, said the exhibition, which is opened to visitors through June 17, features five French artists, along with four painters and two sculptors from Vietnam.

The exhibition also offers  an opportunity for the artists to meet and share their experiences, thus promoting a cultural exchange between Vietnam and France.

In addition, the association, in collaboration with the HCMC University of Fine Arts, held a competition to select the best works  prepared by Fine Arts students. The selected  works will be exhibited at the third international fine arts exchange exhibition, set to take place in France in 2019 and in Vietnam in 2020.

The Vietnam-France Fine Arts Association “La Seine et Le Mekong” was founded by Nguyen Kim Chi and Loiselier Freddy in Normandy in 2015, with an aim to create a cultural bridge connecting Vietnam and France through annual exchange exhibitions.

The exhibitions, held on a rotating basis in Vietnam and France, offer artists from the two countries an insight into each other’s cultures by exploring the daily lives of local people and meeting art enthusiasts.

The first exhibition was held in France in May 2017, with the participation of Vietnamese painters Luong Huu Bien and Normand artists, drawing large numbers of visitors.
