NA to vote on cybersecurity law today

As scheduled, the National Assembly will vote on the cybersecurity law this morning (June 12), news website VnEconomy reports.

The draft law which has sparked heated debates among NA deputies includes seven chapters with 43 articles and will take effect from January 1, 2019.

Inactive bank cards cause huge wastefulness

Among 132 million bank cards having been issued, 50 million of them are inactive. That means a huge waste of resources at trillions of Vietnam dong, as the minimum issuance cost is VND30,000 each card, Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reports.

Women face multiple career challenges

Women are coping with a host of challenges at their workplaces and in career advancement at companies in Vietnam as shown in a survey released by Navigos Group on June 11.

The lack of fair capability assessment and promotion opportunities compared to men, support and understanding from the family, as well as perception on women’s role in the family were the three key barriers to female leadership development as mentioned by respondents of the survey.

Passenger auto consumption rises in May

Last month saw passenger auto consumption soaring by 13% against April to 15,397 units among 23,065 vehicles sold nationwide, according to a report the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) released on June 11.

The report shows that Toyota Vios sedan ranked first with 2,286 units sold, up 10.12% compared to the previous month, followed by Toyota Innova with 1,503 autos and Mazda 3 with 1,139 vehicles sold, up 15.62% and 30.32% respectively against last month.

AEON looks for Vietnamese suppliers

The leading Japanese giant retailer AEON is looking for Vietnamese goods suppliers and manufacturers for its retailing chains that include four commercial centers AEON Mall, 53 supermarkets, and 110 convenient stores active throughout the country.

The retailer plans to expand its business scale in the years to come. Besides, AEON TOPVALU, a brand of AEON, is currently in search of local manufacturers for producing TOPVALU products for local consumption as well as for export to its overseas retail outlets.

Danang urban planning gets stuck

Urban planning projects in the central coast city of Danang are facing hindrances due to outdated vision and a shortage of land for urban infrastructure development projects, Lao Dong newspaper cited experts at a seminar on the city planning by 2030 with a vision to 2045 held by the municipal government on June 11.

Therefore, the Danang City government must allocate more space for public services if the city is to become a civilized and modern one.
