Land management in cities added to NA’s supervision program

The Saigon Times Daily

HCMC – Most National Assembly (NA) deputies agreed, on June 12, to include land management in urban areas to the NA’s supervisory program at its seventh session in May next year, news website VnEconomy reports.

Besides the supervision on the implementation of policies and laws on land planning, management and use in urban areas since the 2013 Land Law took effect, the NA will review the implementation of policies and laws on fire prevention and control from 2014-2018 at its eighth session in October next year.

NA General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc said the NA Standing Committee had earlier consulted NA deputies about the NA’s supervision program in 2019.

As of June 7, the NA General Secretary received 442 opinions from NA deputies, noting that 49% of them agreed on the supervision of land management in urban areas, while 80.5% of deputies voted in favor of the supervision of fire prevention and control.

Also, 208 out of 442 deputies (47%) cast their votes in approval of the implementation of policies and laws on the reduction of poverty in ethnic and mountainous areas, and 130 deputies asked for the supervision on the management and use of non-State funds.

Other NA deputies proposed that the NA closely supervise traffic safety and order, the issuance of legal documents, the handling of voters’ complaints, and the implementation of policies and laws on child protection and care. According to the NA Standing Committee, deputies’ opinions were reasonable, but such issues have been added into previous NA’s supervision programs or inspected by the NA’s agencies.
