HCMC - More than 400 employees of United Overseas Bank (UOB) Vietnam and their families participated in the UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk in HCMC on July 8 to raise funds for underprivileged children.

The event, which was held in Phu My Hung urban area in District 7, raised more than VND200 million for the Tien Giang Union of Friendship Organizations and the Saigon Children’s Charity CIO. The money will go towards various programs to help underprivileged children aged between 12 and 17.

The UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk consisted of a three-kilometer walk and a three-kilometer run, as well as a fun-filled family carnival which included fringe activities such as face painting, sand art and balloon sculpting for the children and the young at heart.

A team cheer contest by UOB employees and a flash mob dance also kept the attendees entertained.

This was the bank’s main fundraising and volunteering event in UOB’s Heartbeat Corporate Social Responsibility Program. This was the first time it had been held in Vietnam.

The UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk was held simultaneously on July 8 across the bank’s key markets in Asia including China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand.

Across the region, more than VND21 billion was raised to support local charities.
