FPT wants to strengthen IT training services

By Thu Hien - The Saigon Times Daily

HCMC - FPT Corporation wants to expand to IT training and e-content services via mergers and acquisitions while maintaining software outsourcing and technology services, said Truong Dinh Anh, CEO of FPT.

There are many private universities in Vietnam but they account for a small 3% of the total. Most private schools are not efficient as they fail to enroll enough students over several academic years.

“The FPT University is operating in an efficient way as it supplies quality IT human resources. Thus, the school wants to expand operations by taking over or joining hands with other non-public universities,” said Anh.

The CEO revealed FPT was planning to take over the premises of Thang Long Vocational Training Center in Danang City.

As for e-content, FPT has been working with PC World magazine since the end of last year as the publisher has incurred losses over the past four years.
“We closed two magazines including PC World B for IT managers and e++ specializing in tech consumption as they make no profit. After one year of tie-up, the publisher has seen first small profit,” Anh said.

Despite global economic uncertainty, the IT giant obtained total revenue of VND974 billion in January- May, up 13% year-on-year. After-tax profit of FPT’s mother firm grew 21% to VND590 billion.
