HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has told the HCMC government to quickly remove any hindrances to construction of a pipeline to transfer water from Kenh Dong Water Plant in Cu Chi District to the city’s distributor.

According to Kenh Dong Water Supply Joint Stock Company, the company has had difficulty building the 13-kilometer pipeline to meet its June deadline though all other processing facilities were almost completed. Vị trí đặt quảng cáo

The pipeline was originally designed to run through Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park but the park developer objected to this plan.

Kenh Dong has tried to redirect the pipeline but met a thorny problem with land compensation for 37 affected families outside the industrial park.

Though the company has filed several petitions with the city government and related agencies to solve the difficulties, it has received no feedback and the pipeline’s construction is still on hold.

The water plant, which started construction in October of 2006, had total investment capital of nearly VND1 trillion, It was designed to have a treating capacity of 200,000 cubic meters per day, and was expected to begin water supply this June for local household users and some nearby industrial parks.

Company director Ha Van Sang said his company was paying VND4.5 billion in bank loan interest each month and unless the problem was solved, the company’s debt would become heavier.

Cu Chi District has asked the city government to allow pipeline construction within the premises of Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park so the water plant’s developer will not suffer and water supply will start flowing in June as scheduled.
