BINH THUAN – Germany’s Fuhrländer Group kicked off construction of Vietnam’s first wind turbine manufacturing plant in Binh Thuan Province’s Tuy Phong District last Saturday.
The plant will cover over 38 hectares, and produce 48 turbines of 1.5 megawatts and 48 others of 2.5 megawatts in the second phase, raising its total capacity to 192 megawatts.
The US$25-million project is expected to complete one year later to provide turbines for wind power projects in Vietnam and for export.
Van Hung Albert, chief representative of Fuhrländer in Vietnam, said the facility would help investors of wind power projects cut transport costs. The plant will also generate jobs and give technical training to 400 to 500 local workers.
