HCMC – The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) is holding a contest to create a new logo and slogan to market Vietnam tourism internationally.

VNAT announced the contest on Tuesday in Hanoi to replace the current campaign “Vietnam – the Hidden Charm” that has been the campaign since 2005. The new slogan would be used till 2015. Entries are open to locals, foreigners and organizations and can be in English or Vietnamese.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, deputy head of the VNAT Marketing Department, told the Daily that along with the logo and slogan, the contestants could provide marketing ideas to promote the new image as well as the brand name of the country’s tourism.

The contestants can send the works to slogcontest@vietnamtourism.gov.vn or 80 Quan Su Street, Hanoi before December 15.

The board of examiners will select the 10 best works for the final round. The first prize is  VND50 million, VND30 million for second and the third prize VND20 million.

VNAT reported Vietnam has received more than 2.9 million international visitors in seven months of this year, up 34.9% compared to the same period last year.

The tourism agency aimed for international tourism growth of 10-15% per year till 2020. It plans to ramp up marketing activities to achieve 7-8 million foreign visitors by 2015.
