Ministry enters “Don’t Burn” in Lao Film Festival
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has nominated the film Dung dot (Don’t Burn) for the Luang Prabang Film Festival on December 4-11of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, reports Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper.
The film directed by Dang Nhat Minh has won awards at national and foreign film festivals, including the Golden Lotus award for best motion picture at the 16th national film festival.
Recently, the film, adapted from the moving diary of revolutionary martyr/doctor Dang Thuy Tram, earned Golden Kite awards for Vietnam Cinema Association film studio. Awards included best film, best film voted by audiences, best director, best leading actress, best sound effects and best artist making it the most successful film in recent years.
Nine other award winning Vietnamese films will also be entered in the Luang Prabang Film Festival. They are “Choi voi” or Adrift; “Chuyen cua Pao” or Pao’s Story; “Trang noi day gieng” or Moon at the Bottom of the Well; “Rung den” or Black Forest; “Mua len Trau” or Buffalo Boy; “Trai tim be bong” or The little heart; “Thoi xa vang”; “Con lai voi thoi gian” and “Sinh Menh”.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that work on English subtitles for these films were underway.
