Two multiplex cinemas of Galaxy Studio Joint Stock Company will screen Nhat Ky Bach Tuyet (Snow White’s Diary), Khi Yeu Dung Quay Dau Lai (Never Look Back When Falling In Love) and Nhung Nu Hon Ruc Ro (Radiant Kisses). Tran Khanh Tung, director of marketing at Galaxy, told the Daily, “We try to serve fans who love made-in-Vietnam movies because Tet is a good time for domestic filmmakers.”

Megastar Cineplex, a joint venture between Envoy Media Partners Ltd. of British Virgin Islands and Phuong Nam Vị trí đặt quảng cáoCultural Corp., and four cinemas of Saigon Movies Media Joint Stock Co. will show the same three films along with Cong Chua Teen va Ngu Ho Tuong (Teen Princess and the Five Brave Generals Teaser).

Galaxy will screen seven sessions a day compared to six last year. Tran Nhut Anh Loan, managing director of Saigon Movies Media, said her four cinemas would screen seven sessions per day.

“The four Vietnamese titles is the highest number of Vietnamese movies we have had released at one time during Tet, more Vietnamese films than ever before at Megastar,” Brian Hall, chairman of the Megastar administration board, told the Daily.

“We will be showing Avatar on our two 3-dimension screens, one at Megastar Hung Vuong Plaza in HCMC and one at Megastar Vincom City Tower in Hanoi during Tet,” Hall added. This Cineplex will screen a new American family movie called Tooth Fairy which will be released on February 12.

Galaxy continues screening two foreign movies, Sherlock Holmes and The Spy Next Door. Khanh Tung of Galaxy forecast a 30% increase in ticket sales this Tet. Hall of Megastar said happily, “Over the two weeks from the beginning of Tet, we should see around 300,000 movie-goers.”
