Vietnam introduces first Cinema Day

Vietnam Cinema Day will be celebrated for the first time in Vietnam on Monday with many public activities nationwide. The day is to honor the country’s movie industry and create a chance for movie makers, experts and movie lovers to be proud of Vietnamese films.
There will be a seminar on international integration of Vietnamese movies, a script writing contest for the movie Truyen Kieu towards the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi of which the best script will be awarded VND200 million and used for making a film, a trivia contest on the history of international and Vietnamese cinema, and the most significant event, the Canh Dieu Vang (Golden Kite) movie award ceremony for television and movies at the Hanoi Cultural Friendship Palace on Sunday night. The program will be broadcast live on VTV1 and VTV4 of Vietnam Television, reports VietnamPlus.
This year, the organizing committee of the Canh Dieu Vang will grant new prizes for the most promising actors and best actors of video movies and television drama.
Many typical movies of Vietnam’s revolutionary cinema, as well as eight wide-screen movies and five documentary films which will compete at the Canh Dieu Vang, will be screened throughout the event at the Vietnam Cinema Association, 51 Tran Hung Dao Street and at Ngoc Khanh Cinema, the National Film Center.
