Fifty classic Vietnamese films to be released

Phuong Nam Films and Vietnam Feature Film Studio will cooperate to release fifty classic Vietnamese movies which were produced by the Studio over the past fifty years.
These movies, winners of many domestic and international film awards, will be released on DVD for Reunification Day. Among the collection is 1959’s Chung Mot Dong Song directed by Nguyen Hieu Nghi and Pham Hong Dan and starring famous Vietnamese actors Song Kim, Manh Linh, Phi Nga, Huy Cong and Thu An.
On the occasion of the upcoming national holidays from April to September, a series of movies will also be released, including Con Chim Vanh Khuyen, Noi Gio, Moi Tinh Dau, Co Gai Tren Song and Huyen Thoai Nguoi Me.
There are two color documentary movies, 1975’s Sai Gon Thang 5 Nam and Thanh Pho Luc Rang Dong telling the rhythm of life in and after 1975. Many movies will be released on the occasion of the August Revolution and Independence Day on September 2, including Lang Vu Dai Ngay Ay, Chi Dau, Vo Chong A Phu and Ngay Le Thanh.
Movies produced in this century include Canh Bac, Ben Khong Chong, Vua Bai Rac, Rung Den and Trai Tim Be Bong. Phuong Nam Films will also release Vietnamese directors’ collections, including Dang Nhat Minh’s films, Nguyen Thanh Van’s films and Hai Ninh’s films, and actors’ movies such as Tra Giang’s films, Nhu Quynh’s films and The Anh’s films. Some will have English subtitles to meet the demands of both domestic and foreign viewers.
