Classical music and contemporary dance in one

HCMC Ballet and Symphony Orchestra (HBSO) will put on a two-part performance, a concert by pianist Bich Tra and the HBSO orchestra, and a contemporary dance by HBSO ballet at HCMC Opera House on August 9.
Pianist Bich Tra together with HBSO Symphony Orchestra will opens the program under the baton of conductor Tran Vuong Thach with the Piano Concerto No.2, Op. 83, by J. Brahmans. The contemporary dance performance will follow.
One of Vietnam’s top pianists, Bich Tra earned a master’s degree in art from the Tchaikovsky Institute of Music in Moscow. After graduation, she continued her post-graduate studies at the British Royal Music Academy, receiving the highest marks for her piano recital in her graduation She won first prize in the Brant International Piano Competition in Birmingham in 2000. She has performed in Russia, Poland, Germany, Norway, Spain, Italy, the U.S. and the U.K. Tran Vuong Thach has been the principal conductor of HBSO from 1996, having given many concerts nationwide. In 2008 he was invited to perform with Nis Symphony Orchestra in Serbia, with New Prime Symphony Orchestra in Pusan, South Korea, and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra. In October 2008, he led the HBSO in the Asian Orchestra Week in Tokyo, Japan. At present, he teaches at the HCMC Conservatory of Music.
