French Improvisational Theater in HCMC
By Thanh Hang in HCMC
The Amitié Sans Frontière (ASF- Friendship without Frontiers) will present an improvised performance of a Vietnamese fairy tale called Tam Cam on August 8.
The show performed in French language will be held at the HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), 31 Le Duan, Ho Chi Minh City.
Four teams of French language students from three universities including University of Technology, University of Natural Sciences, and University of Economics, and the Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted will take part in the performance.
Using the Tam Cam storyline as a guide, the actors will be randomly assigned to play in different scenes and improvise their parts. They will be given a short time to prepare. The teams must work together so the play runs as smoothly as possible and makes sense to the audience.
ASF’s members are mostly young students studying French in HCMC. Since it was established in November 2009, ASF has held monthly gatherings to provide opportunities to practice French, network, and take part in social activities.
The performance begins at 8a.m. and goes until 11a.m. Entrance is free. ASF is under Vietnam-France Friendship Association. For further information or to register to perform, contact Vietnam – France Friendship Association at phapngu@hcm.vnn.vn or telephone (08) 38 23 27 95.
