Sasha Waltz & Guests to hit Hanoi
By Tuong Lan in Hanoi
A contemporary dance show called Travelogue I-Twenty to eight, co-organized by the Sasha Waltz & Guests and Grand Theatre Groningen, will take place at Hanoi Opera House, 1 Trang Tien Street, at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
Developed by dancers Nasser Martin-Gousset, Akos Hargitay/Thomas Lehmen, Charlotte Zerbey, Takako Suzuki and Sasha Waltz, Travelogue I-Twenty to eight is designed as a kitchen where five artists meet. The kitchen acts as a mirror in which rituals, habits and behavior patterns can be observed and reflected in the most real way and through these reflections a network of relationships is woven. The characters, neurotic and obsessive, lonely and lost, are unable to find a way out of the prisons of their own social structures.
Sasha Waltz & Guests is not a contemporary dance company in the conventional sense. Since being founded by Sasha Waltz and Jochen Sandig in Berlin in 1993, more than 150 artists from 25 countries have performed as guests. Sasha Waltz’ repertoire as a choreographer comprises twelve large, internationally acclaimed choreographies. The troupe gives around 100 performances worldwide each year thus positioning Sasha Waltz & Guests among the most successful international cultural enterprises.
Tickets are available at Hanoi Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, tel: 04 3734 2251, email: info@hanoigoethe.org.
