GDS opens international-standard data center

HANOI – Global Data Services Joint Stock Co. (GDS), formed in cooperation between Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group and Japan’s NTT Communications, has inaugurated a multi-carrier data center at Thang Long Industrial Park in Hanoi.

The first international standard data center in Vietnam aims to supply Vị trí đặt quảng cáoenterprises leasing space for servers, applied management, online storage and IP (Internet Protocol) registration. The services are designed to assist enterprises form and run a strong ICT network around Vietnam.

Vietnam for many years has been an attractive destination for foreign investors due to high economic growth rates and a well-trained and low-cost labor force. However, infrastructure is limited and power sources and Internet access remains unstable, said GDS general director Atsuhiko Sata.

The center was formed to meet the increasing demand for international standard data services in Vietnam, he said.

The center targets to serve multinational enterprises, banks, financial institutions and large companies in the country.

To ensure security for customers, the data center uses two different power sources, Hoa Binh Hydropower and Pha Lai Thermal Power, and maintains three electric generators to back up sudden power losses.

Staff of the center has been trained at the same standard as NTT’s 17 premium data centers worldwide to serve customers in Vietnamese, English and Japanese.
