HCMC – Vietnam Telecomp/Vietnam Electronics exhibitions due later this year will be a major convergence point for ICT and electronics exhibitors, as more than 200 companies have put their names down, the organizer said on Thursday.
“The number of exhibitors is 50 more than last year’s events,” said Bui Quoc Viet, spokesman of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).
The International Exhibition in Vietnam on Telecommunications and Information Technology (Vietnam Telecomp) and the International Exhibition on Electronics Products in Vietnam (Vietnam Electronics) are being jointly organized by VNPT and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd (Adsale) of Hong Kong at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7 from November 17 to 20.
“Up to date, more than 200 exhibitors have registered to join the events and the number is higher than our expectation,” he told reporters.
Some selected themes will be specially featured in line with the rapidly changing information and communication technology (ICT) and electronics industries in Vietnam. These include managed services, modern enterprise communications, fiber-optic communications, digital content, electronic manufacturing, consumer electronics, personal digital equipment and accessories.
Last year, the events attracted 152 exhibitors from 18 countries and territories to display products at an exhibition area of over 6,000 sq.m. It received widespread support from international and local leading companies, including VNPT Group, EVN Telecom, MobiFone, Vinaphone, VTI, Andrew Corporation, Cisco, Ericsson, Hitachi Cable, Huawei, Motorola, and NTT DOCOMO among others.
According to the organizers, at least 80% of the exhibitors who took part in last year’s events are returning to showcase their products this year.
The Ministry of Information and Communications has issued a draft to develop the information and communication industry in the 2010-2020 period with an aim to turn Vietnam into a strong ICT country. Under the draft, US$3.2 billion will be spent in the 2010-2015 period and US$5.3 billion in the 2016-2020 period on building infrastructure, supporting ICT businesses, and developing human resources.
