HCMC – Vietnam iPhone lovers will be able to buy iPhone units via official channels after three mobile network carriers VinaPhone, MobiFone and Viettel on Wednesday declared they would distribute the hi-tech products in Vietnam this year.
The mobile networks said that they have just reached an agreement with
iPhone manufacturer Apple to distribute the mobile device in Vietnam. The latest iPhone like iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs would soon be available in the next few months.
Until now, local customers have been buying the products via foreign e-commerce websites or have their acquaintances in foreign countries buy the products for them.
The three mobile network operators have not detailed a price and maintenance service policy. However, they said that they would sell iPhone together with a compulsory service package.
Industry observers say the price of iPhone in Vietnam will not be higher than in other countries because Apple has the same pricing policy for distributors.
Currently, Viettel, MobiFone and VinaPhone are deploying 3G services to offer high broadband Internet access and data transfer at high speed. Thus, iPhone which is compatible with 3G services will be considered as a product to help develop 3G services in Vietnam.
According to the Apple’s website, iPhone now are present in 94 countries and territories worldwide.
