To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the Saigon Times Foundation (STF), under the Saigon Times Group, has kicked off a program to provide interest-free loans for students at Danang University of Technology to pay tuition fees.
Thirty students at the university benefited from this program this time, with each loan worth VND5 million a year.
The central region program has an initial budget of VND300 million. It includes VND200 million raised by the Saigon Times Group in ‘The 2011 Saigon Times Concert’ and VND100 million from Prudential Vietnam.
The program is part of a broader program which has been a huge success in the Mekong Delta with VND4 billion financed by Van Phat Hung JSC. Since 2009, 961 students in the area have been supported.
Also at the opening ceremony in Danang, 60 scholarships from KFC Vietnam Joint Venture Co. Ltd., and another 19 scholarships from Asia Commercial Bank went to local students. Each scholarship is worth VND7 million and VND5 million respectively.
