Vietnamese singers Nam Cuong and Ho Quynh Huong are preparing a trip to Japan where they will perform at Vietnam Festival 2010.
Prior to their performance, band member and producer of Japanese rock group Gypsy Queen, Aki, will come to HCMC to discuss a collaboration with the two Vietnamese singers at the festival at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, September 18-19.
Gypsy Queen has excited Vietnamese fans at a number of events in this country, including the Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Event at the UNESCO Heritage Site of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam.
The festival in Tokyo is expected to attract 100,000.
Vietnamese singers Lam Truong, My Linh and Hien Thuc performed at the festival n 2008. Hien Thuc went back last year with Minh Thu.
The singing duo, Cuong and Huong, have appeared together regularly since they toured London this summer. Huong said their popularity was thanks to Cuong’s recent third album and the single “It’s Me.”
Huong will sing some of the hits off the album at the festival. After this cultural exchange event, she will return home for the “Colors of Ho Quynh Huong” show in Hanoi in October.
The relations between Vietnam and Japan are expanding across a broad spectrum. More than 240,000 Japanese people traveled to Vietnam in the first seven months of this year, up 21.4% year-on-year.
