By Mong Binh in HCMC
Renowned Australian-Malaysian chef Tony Tan will travel around Vietnam September 11-21 to share his experience with food lovers in the country.
Tan plans to begin his 11-day food tour in Hanoi and then head south to HCMC. He will put on cooking classes at
the luxury resort The Nam Hai on the central coast of Vietnam September 15-17.
At the award-winning resort, Tan will be sharing the secrets of Central Vietnam’s distinctive cooking influenced by the cuisine of the nearby World Heritage-listed port of Hoi An.
Tan will team up with the resort’s executive chef, Ashish Deva, and his team of Vietnamese chefs to run the cooking classes, which are priced at US$28++ per person and can be booked directly with the resort.
Participants of the cooking classes will learn about the general philosophy of Vietnamese cuisine, with its layering of fresh, delicate herbs and classic dishes including braised fish with turmeric in clay pot, Hue-style prawn and chicken pancakes.
Tan heads the acclaimed Shakahir Restaurant in Melbourne, runs his own cooking school and presents master cooking classes around Australia and in Auckland, Singapore, Shanghai and Madrid.
The presenter of the TV series ‘The Food Lovers’ Guide to Australia’ is one of Australia’s best-known chefs and last year won the Australia Travel and Tourism Award for his personal guided gourmet tours.
Those who want to accompany Tan on the tour can register with Harvey World Travel Melbourne by email: jferguson@harveyworld.com.au.
The 11-day tour with Tan costs AU$5,750 and includes economy class domestic air tickets, twin-share accommodation, cooking demonstrations, daily breakfast, eight lunches and six dinners.
