American singer to jazz up Le Club
By Mong Binh in HCMC
American jazz vocalist Viva Vinson is heading for Le Club of the Hotel Metropole Hanoi to entertain local and expatriate music connoisseurs and enthusiasts with favorite vocals of not only jazz but also R&B and blues.
From October, Vinson will grace Le Club with her new renditions of classic favorites and also take requests. Show times are 8:45 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday at 15 Ngo Quyen Street in the capital city.
“One of my deepest passions is listening to live music,” Vinson says. “Being able to sing and perform is just an extension of the energy and bliss I receive from listening. Listening is everything.”
Vinson is known for her palpable passion for music and crooning that helps her win big applause and standing ovations at various luxury hotels and high-end bars in different parts of the world. She has performed at The Island Shangri-La Lobster Bar, Shanghai’s Park 97, Coco Blues and The Royal Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok.
Vinson started her singing career at the age of seven, when world-famous drag queens Divine and Sylvester trained her backstage at performances by The Cockettes, a San Francisco-based troupe of drag queens that gained cult status in the late 1960s counterculture theater scene. In 1997, she graduated with a bachelors in Fine Arts from Antioch University in Los Angeles.
